The main purpose of our Pontian Greek Society is to make the general population aware of the history and plight of the Greek people of Pontus, both those remaining there and those scattered around the globe.
The history of the Greek Pontian people is very rich and complicated. We have suffered and fought to maintain our identity as a people for many centuries. Our particular focus is on the Christian population and particularly the “crypto-Christian” population still remaining in our ancient land.
As part of this presentation of our history we will also focus on the history and effects of the Pontian Greek Genocide at the hand of the Ottoman Turks.
We present this information not as a work of scholarship but as a labor of love and to make our history known to the world at large.
We invite all people both Pontian Greek and others to join with us in the effort to communicate the history and to help fight the injustice visited on our people over many years.
I am a Pontian Greek from Trebizond- Pontos (currently Trabzon) and I communicate here from my personal experience. It is my sincere desire to help my brothers and sisters who remain in my ancestral homeland.
